We pursue a dual approach to Alzheimer’s disease — targeting underlying disease biology for modification while addressing behavioral and psychological symptoms.
Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology

BMS exited neuroscience before. How do I know this is a long-term commitment?
You are right to ask — and we are transparent about that history.
Today, we have built a dedicated Cambridge, MA Neuroscience Translational Research Center — infrastructure you do not build for a short-term experiment. We have brought treatments to market in both MS and schizophrenia. We have an active Phase 3 program underway in Alzheimer’s disease. Hiring from 2024 through 2026 across discovery, translational, clinical, and medical reflects an organizational build — not project-based staffing. Neuroscience is now embedded in our enterprise R&D strategy alongside oncology, immunology, and cardiovascular
CNS research has one of the highest failure rates in biopharma. What makes BMS different?
We do not minimize that risk — CNS development is genuinely difficult.
Our approach is to take on complex biology with purpose. We de-risk the work through disciplined, evidence-based decisions. BMS uses in-house neuroimaging and biomarker science — including MRI and PET imaging — to identify early signals before late-stage commitment. We pursue a dual strategy: both disease modification and symptom management across multiple mechanisms and programs. We blend world-class translational research with agile external partnerships. And we have shown we can navigate novel CNS pharmacology and deliver at the regulatory level.
